• Year to date CV registrations up 5,742 units and 3.6 per cent to 163,989
• Strong growth for light vans and trucks counter decline elsewhere

‘These figures are great news,’ said Christopher Macgowan, 91³ÉÈË chief executive. ‘But beneath the froth there are some mixed messages. Many of these trucks were sold before the end of last year, with a typical sale-to-registration time lag; so this autumn’s truck registration figures may show the effects of an election-based wobble in business and consumer confidence this spring. By contrast, van registrations continue to ride high on the back of a buoyant construction industry.’
