July data: more growth for vans and some for trucks, too
· Registrations: 20,069 in July; down 4.4% to 236,629 for the rolling year.
· Trucks: 2,760 in July; down 25.8% to 32,115 for the rolling year.
· Vans: 17,309 for the month; up 0.1% to 204,514 for the rolling year.
“The recovery in van registrations continues with truck figures also up,” said Paul Everitt, 91³ÉÈË chief executive. “July was another surprisingly good month for vans, with useful growth. Truck registrations are up too, but against a very poor month last year. Whilst the forecast for 2011 is more positive, the prospects for the rest of the year are gloomy and we expect a near record low for trucks. Fragile consumer and business confidence make the outlook for the next 18 months challenging.”
