Bus and coach registrations fall 2.8% in January 2011
4 Feb 2011• Overall bus and coach volumes down 2.8% in month and 11.0% for the rolling year to January.
• Coach volumes rose by 25.5% in January and 20.7% for the rolling year to January.
• All bus registrations fell by 6.9% and 14.1% for the rolling year to January.
• Generally mixed trends across the sector in a typically low-key month for registration volumes.
“Bus and coach registrations fell again in January as economic conditions continue to affect the sector”, said Paul Everitt, 91³ÉÈË Chief Executive. “Despite the overall trend there were some good numbers across the sector, though these came in a quiet month in the registration calendar and are based on small volumes. Coach growth continued but will need to do better to beat the 1,000 unit pre-recession level. Double-deck bus numbers fell sharply in January, in line with the pattern set in 2010; we hope for some respite through 2011.”
