* Positive trend for big buses holds but economic climate is difficult

* Large coaches slipping from record levels as key September month approaches

* Double deck buses’ robust growth continues; should extend to September

“August’s figures are level after the best start to bus and coach registrations for years,” said Paul Everitt, 91³ÉÈË chief executive.  “But business response to higher costs and lower consumer spending will cut future volumes.  From June to August we also saw a slowdown in coach and midi bus figures.  Increased bus use may stabilize demand but coach travel may drop.”
